Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club Elite/U19 riders continued on from the success of the CCCC juniors bringing home 6 of the 18 medals won by the Victorian Team at the 2017 Cycling Australia National Elite/U19 Track Championships in Brisbane from February 28 to March 3.

 

Five of our riders made the State Team; Jacob Schmid, Courtney Field, Tylah Meunier, Tom Benton and Alana Field. All of the CCCC riders started in our Junior Development program at Packer Park, graduating to the DISC High Performance group, being coached by Hilton Clarke and ultimately Jacob Schmid moving to the AIS and Courtney Field the VIS.

CCCC riders’ medal haul included 4 Silver and 2 Bronze, with a number of personal best times being recorded.
Jacob Schmid (Elite Men) – Silver Sprint, Silver Team Sprint
Courtney FieId (Elite Women) – Silver Sprint, Bronze Kieran
Tylah Meunier (U19 Men) – Silver Sprint, Bronze 1km timetrial, 4th Keiran
Tom Benton (U19 Men) – 5th 1km timetrial
Alana Field (U19 Women) – 5th 500m timetrial

Team Vic was assisted by Hilton Clarke as coach and Rob Koroknai as team mechanic.
The performances by all our riders reflected a huge amount of hard work and dedication, with possible selection as part of the Australian team to compete at Worlds the ultimate goal.
