By Doug Moody & Jeff Stuart
Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club junior riders were a key element in the Victorian Junior Track Team’s exceptionally strong showing at the 2017 Cycling Australia National Junior Track Championships in Sydney from February 22-25. The team returned with 21 medals, with CCCC riders bringing home 9 medals. A performance which truly underlines the quality development of junior cyclists by CCCC.
Six of our riders made the State Team, Campbell McEwen, Alyssa Polities, Lucinda Stewart, Max Leiner, Bill Simpson, Josh Heather and Ben Foster bringing home many medals. Congratulations to you all on all the hard work you have put in, and it’s great to see you well rewarded. This is the same team of CCCC riders that won the Teams Classification of the NJTS this and it is a testament to the quality training provided at our Wednesday night DISC sessions with Hilton.
Special mention should go to Campbell McEwen who in one season has graduated from the Packer Park group with Rob Koroknai through to our DISC group and most notably been selected for the State Team.
Junior State Team Manager Laurie Norris praised the team.
