Apollo Summer Criterium Series

CCCC is delighted to announce Apollo Bikes as the official sponsor for the 2010/2011 Summer Criterium Series at Glenvale and Sandown.  Apollo Bikes are offering some great prizes this year, catering for all riders across every grade.  The main prize of an Apollo Elite carbon fibre racing machine will be awarded to the winner of the points category, with the best Women riders fighting it out for a set of a women’s specific Apollo Silhouette 3.0.

This year we have introduced 2 new categories which will provide an opportunity for every rider, no matter what their level.  3rd prize will be awarded for the Most Consistent Rider throughout the season and 4th prize will be awarded to the Most Respected Rider in the Peleton. Apollo Bikes will also be giving away some great spot prizes each month.

All licensed riders at CCCC criteriums between November 2010 and April  2011 will earn points towards over $10,000 worth of prizes.

SERIES RULES

  1. Points are allocated to members of Cycling Australia affiliated clubs according to the following table. Overseas riders and riders on day permits are not eligible for points. If an in-eligible rider takes a place they will receive the relevant prize money awarded on the day only; the points do not transfer to the next highest finisher i.e. the points for that place are not awarded.

  3. All unplaced riders, including DNF’s, receive 2 points per race.
  4. In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstance that prevents one or more grades from racing, no points will be awarded on the day.  Racing for all grades (A,B,C,D) must be completed for points to be awarded for any grade.
  5. Double points may be awarded for special events at the Club’s discretion.
  6. Riders may be promoted to a higher grade at the Handicapper’s discretion based on performances. Promoted riders earn a 10 point bonus. Riders who are elevated to a higher grade because they were clearly too good for the grade they initially entered do not qualify for bonus points, and may not be awarded points from the lower grade.
  7. Riders demoted down a grade may earn a 10 point deduction at the Handicapper’s discretion.
  8. Points may be deducted at the discretion of the CCCC committee, event organisers or Commisaire for dangerous riding, swearing, littering, public urination or any other breach of the CCCC Code of Conduct; or for breaching any other rule which may be imposed by the organisers or cycling’s governing bodies. Serious or repeat breaches may result in the offenders disqualification from the series.
  9. Prizes may be substituted by the Series Sponsor subject to availability.
  10. Points will be on offer at all CCCC races on and after November 7, 2010.
  11. Prize winners must be available to attend a nominated event to collect their prize, and make themselves available for reasonable media and/or promotional commitments required by the organisers or sponsor.  If the winners are not available for the official prize ceremony, they must organise the prize collection within 30 days of receiving notification of their win.
  12. CCCC will endeavour to update the progressive points score on a weekly basis via the CCCC website. Due to the large number of participants expected, these update cannot be guaranteed!
  13. Riders are responsible for claiming their finishing place immediately after the end of their race. The announcement of place winners for each race will take place at the presentation held at the conclusion of the day’s racing.  Once the presentation is complete, the results will be considered final, and appeals against errors or omissions will only be heard in extreme circumstances.
