TODAY MY LITTLE MAN WENT HOME
Today little Josh went home after looking after him since last Sunday. No gardening jobs got done and no bike riding at all but first things first. With a bit of luck I will get to the Saturday and or Sunday Bay Crit races which I have been looking forward to. Josh will be back Sunday night or Monday morning because his mum is being enduced on Monday after a difficult pregnancy

Great news about our club team and what a line up of top riders. In actual fact the support race is full of top riders as well. The Ladies race is a very strong field which I enjoyed very much last year. I reckon if Peta Mullens is really fit then she will be right up there as last year.

Good luck to All girls and boys and I hope that bloody centre plantation just after the top corner is gone. Last year it cased a bad pile up in the Ladies race and I think Megan Dunn broke he collarbone.

The skill of the riders last year in all races was so good to watch and the cornering.

Happy New Year.

I MUST HAVE MISSED IT
A few weeks ago I was told that the GM of Cyclesport Vic had quitt the role. I have been looking to see a notice advising members of his departure. For some reason I appear to have missed it's posting but looking back through news items it does not appear anywhere unless I am blind. Until now I have kept my mouth shut but I now note on the Management page a TBA where up until very recently the gentlemans name still appeared.

Recall at the time of his appointment the he came from an AFL background which is fine however with the departure of Ian Maher I did write he would be missed. With Steve and Ian gone to me it meant the young people in the office had no reference person with a strong cycling background to refer day to day matter to.

I know of a senior person in cycling who asked for a specific approval for a race to be knocked back, as it was "ägainst the rules". That same person told me that previously with Ian on hand logic applied and permission given.

Don't get me wrong I think the young team at Cyclesport are really great and the Australian Madison night was a real credit to all involved. However, you can't put an old head on young shoulders equally if the next appointment is going to be from another sporting background then in my view he/she needs a day to day experienced person, like an Ian Maher to refer to on appropiate matters.

I did see Ian at the Austral day meeting and asked him if he had done a "Lazarus" but he just said hello and smiled.

Now guys don't get the sh-ts with me. I give praise where it's due and I will give my point of view where I see fit.

Did I miss the notification to general members? If I did then I apologies however my point on the need for experience around is fundemental to any business. In 30 years managing in one business I had 15 CEO's over me and each of them had the smarts to know they needed experienced people in our industry to refer to on certain matters.

Cheers and Happy New Year to ALL.

STUART VAUGHAN WINS WIMMERA WHEELRACE
Stuart Vaughan a regular from night one of the CCCC Wednesday Night program has won the Wimmera Wheelrace. Don't know what his mark was but he was bound to win soon. I had the pleasure of pushing Stuart off in the Austral final 2 weeks ago and told him that night he would win a wheelrace very soon.

Stuart regained his World 3000 metres Masters 3 Pursuit Title in October coached by Hilton Clarke Snr. Stuart was a late commer to racing and track racing itself. Stuart like so many other riders to take up this great sport later in life has done so well.

In actual fact in Stuart's repercharge heat of the Austral it was his powerhouse riding that kept the backmarkers half a lap behind for nearly all the distance.

You will win more Stuart. It might seem strange to some but the further back Stuart gets the better he will ride.

Cheers.
