STRONG JUNIOR COMP
Great reading Graham's report on the Victorian Junior road titles. Congratulations to all riders who placed or rode well and CCCC had plenty. Reading down the Cyclesport Vic Results it is good to see youngsters from all clubs do well. It is important for cycling that good results come from a mix of all clubs. Having said that I was ammused that some people were apparently moaning at the Junior National track titles that CCCC and Hilton coached kids did so well.

Track is very specialised and if you have ability and the best possible coaching and top facilities then top results will be a fact. Road is different and coaching and facilities are not as bigger factor but ability still remains a major factor plus a good training program.

Good to see so many kids from all over Victoria do well.

OLD GOAT OR OLD MOUNTAIN GOAT?
At 2.00pm today I headed up to The Basin then up the 1 in 20, down the Cresent to Monbulk, back up to Olinda. Then down to Sassfras down to The Basin and from there home in the rain, but light rain thank goodiness.

For my age and condition I ride at a resonable pace. Up the 1 in 20 in 26 minutes which is slow by younger persons standards but at nearly 65 years that's okay for me. Up the wall to Olinda I took 30 minutes from the bottom corner riding 39 x 26 all the way.

It was great up there but quite a few cars going into Monbulk. Think I saw Boyd coming up the Perrins Ck to Sassfras Rd but not sure. All in all a good three hours and whilst it is only done at my pace, it's a really good workout. With the hills all the time my quads are getting a bit of shape back again.

Hope you are all well and ride safe.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH SAY NOTHING
Last week I read Greg Lemond's blog out of interest. Whilst I did admire him as a rider, his getting shot and comeback, my view has changed in recent years. From his writing I find comments attributed to him as very bitter. Reading today's response to his last week's blog, in an open letter from Doctor Michele Ferrari there a number of facts raised by Lemond that are denied.

Recently a former young Australian track rider sued twice persons who accused him wrongly. Not everyone is in a financial position to sue those who accused them of drug cheating in cycling.

Hopefully in the future some of those accused wrongly by people without true facts will take appropiate action. In cycling it is true we have a history of drug use but equally we have people who accuse others yet don't appear to pay a penalty if their accusations turn out to be faulse.

Drugs in our sport has always dissapointed most of us but to me people who accuse others of cheating without any basis, are just as bad.

Safe riding all.

FABIAN'S MOTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well if those who injured Cancellara had a motor in his bike to ride like he did in the early classics then they must reckon he had wings last night. A friend told me he had easy conditions on Saturday but for mine 52k's in 1 hour and 56 seconds is just so great. Tony Martin did very well also at 17 seconds behind him.

To ride at that speed after 3 weeks of hard racing is just awesome and shows his true class once again. To that Italian journalist who originally raised that crap story, what do you think now?????? Wings?

Looking forward to tonight and then hopefully some unbroken sleep for a few nights.

Cheers.
