INTERESTING REPORT
Been reading on David Heatley's facebook a report by Mark Woolard. Mark recentley commenced coaching under David's Cycling Inform. You can get to Mark's report on the Cycling Inform website.

It's a good honest report and gives an indication of the Sunday conditions in the high country Degani Three Peaks Challenge . Now an old bloke like me would probably bail out in the weekends unseasonal conditions but younger people handle cold much better still it's not hard to imagin how tough it was up there.

Mark writes about the clothing he wore and yet stil got so cold that he bailed out at Dinner Plains.

It's a report well written which I enjoyed reading.

Hope your all well.

VICTORIAN MASTERS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS
Looking at entries for the Victorian Masters Track titles the numbers appear to be good. Of course old duffers like me decide to topple over so Masters 8 and 9 numbers a bit light on but that's not new as the Vics never get numbers at the old age group end. Nationals generally do however.

I first got into track after having watched the Australian Masters Track Titles at Vodafone in 2001. Although had not ridden track for nearly 30 years I came away thinging "I can ride as well as those old blokes".

Got back on in 2002 and been at it nearly non stop since but now an enforced break.

Any Masters age Ladies or Men who may have a slight interest in riding track should go along to look at their favored events.
It's good to see Shane Miller a top road TT Masters having a go at track pursuiting. There are other very good road TT riders female and male who would do well pursuiting. Equally good crit riders would ride good scratch races once you learn the ropes. To any other recents converts to track enjoy it and hope you do well. Good to see Laurie Gates and Ian McGeoch

Perhaps you might get a chance to have a look either Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, sprinting or scratch races. If you can get a pass from the boss.

Anyway good racing to all who have entered and hope you ride well. Remember PB's are a win for you.

GOOD INTERVIEW WITH ARMSTRONG
On cyclingnews.com there is a great interview with Armstrong in Spain. If you have not read it then it might be worthwhile. What like about Lance Armstrong is that he calls it as it is, no bull s--t and always gives other's credit. Yes he is a tough rider but he respects others abilities and is realistic. I like the fact that young riders come up to him and ask if they can have their picture taken with Lance. That shows he respects them and is generious not up himself.

The won thing I will say about Armstrong, he's won 7 Tours de France straight! When you look back a couple of times could have been disasters but call it luck or his skills he got through.

Anway read it when time permits.

KEEPING BUSY
Last night talking to Peter Aquilina on facebook he suggested I look at Ozcycling.com.au and steephill.com. Think on steephill he was sending me up but Ozcycling.com is really great.

Have been watching Dan and Scott McGrory doing interviews plus some muckinging around, it's very enjoyable.

Maybe you all know about it, but I did not. It's really good viewing.

Cheers and ride safely.

TALKING TO HILTON
Hilton rang this morning to see how I am and is coming over later this week. He phone me a few times but know hes been very busy coaching the juniors for the Nationals in two weeks. He is very satisfied with their form and believes they are all in good shape to ride well, both girls and boys.

Interestingly he was telling me about the training the young Elite riders are now doing. Some track pursuiters and endurance are doing 150 k's three times a week as well as track sessions. When they do these long rides they actually do pursuit efforts etc, intervals along the way.

With the good young riders he saw at the Nationals he tells me no rider is certain to make the Olympic team now as the youngsters coming up are just soo good.

His only concern is that too much workload on some younger riders can cause knee problems so keeping this in balance is vital.

What I admire about Hilton is that whilst his knowledge and dedication hands-on is tops, he does listen to and takes in others ideas. We could see this side of him with the Brits at Manchester in 2006. To have been the self made champion he was, with years of experience yet still eager to take in new ideas are reasons why he is one of the very best. Continued results speak for themselves.

Have a good day.
