Enjoyed the day, a bit tired so will turn in early then back out tomorrow to watch pursuits and scratch races.
Go numbers racing a bit thin in some age groups either gender. It is a pitty that more of our track rider ladies did not enter but perhaps doing other things.
Standard was high in all events and enjoyed just being in the track environment again. One pleasing thing was that I did not see any one rider dominate all events in the younger bigger age groups. Standards were high and good seeing new riders racing track.
Just remember if you are newe to track jusdt give yourself time to improve and learn about your best gearing, ride techniques etc etc. You don't adjust to it over night so don't expect too much.
Cheers

( 0 / 0 )In todays stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico Simon got caught in a pile up. He says he did not get hurt but was spewing that he could not get back on. The stack happened at 4 k's from the finish. Anyway after 3 stages he has lost only 56 seconds, over 40 seconds of that today.
Have great day all.

( 2 / 1 )If you pull up the 1982 World Keirin Track Title on You Tube you can see the event in contrast to todays Keirin event. Whilst we like watching some rough house racing I think you would agree that todays race has improved somewhat with stricter rules.
Have a look some time.

( 0 / 0 )It looks like Tim Decker has sent every one to the drawing board. He's altered things by his master stroke at the Nationals using a kilometre man. Whilst reading on cyclingnews.com that Jason Queally intends riding the full distance pursuit not just a kilo, he would take the pace along quick.
Talking to Jack Cummings before on facebook we were talking about the kilo speed of Taylor Phinney. Years ago pursuiters were considered non sprinters but today all young riders are fast maybe not Shane Perkins fast!
Imagine Sir Chris Hoy carting the pursuiter along for say 5 laps. He could nearly get his team into the same straight as many teams.
Things change don't they.

( 2 / 2 )After blood test on Tuesday I returned to Box Hill Hospital today to Occology for going over and outcome. The man I saw was a very nice Doctor and he gave me a real good examination looking for lumps etc.
During my week in Hospital they took many blood samples and said my white cell count was up but no conclusion reached. From the samples this week they did extensive tests and tell me I have Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
Now before youve got me berried I am told it is very mild and could take years to develop into anything, perhaps 20 to 30 years and is treatable anyway. It is the milder of two strains with the same name.
So at 84 or 94, if I bat that long, am sure other things will slow me up by then anyway.
Outcome is Ivé gotta have flue and puenmonia injections before winter and back to hospital in July for another check up.
At least this weekends weather looks a lot better for you all. If Iám a good boy I get to go and watch the Masters pursuits and scratch races on Sunday. My big outing.
Ride safely.
PS I don't write this for sympathy but merely to point out the importances of regular health check ups in particular for older people.
