For many years Jack made a point of making sure everyone knew that while he had a race named after it him, it wasn’t a Memorial race because he ‘wasn’t dead yet”.
Sadly, this year the race will for the first time be held as a Memorial Race, and we think it will be a fitting tribute to see a big field assemble to race the traditional two laps of the flat Modella circuit.
Entries for the race will be taken on the day from 12.15pm, closing at 1pm sharp. The limit bunch will start at 1.30pm and scratch will roll off around 2pm.
All riders all welcome – if you haven’t raced with CCCC recently drop our handicapper a line at handicapper@carnegiecycling.com.au with an indication of what grade you ride at your home club to make things a bit smoother on race day.
For those who haven’t been to Modella and want detailed directions, relax! There’s only one road through the ‘town’ which consists solely of a hall and a tennis court. We use the hall for race HQ and car parking, with overflow parking at the tennis court. It’s also right on a 90 degree bend in the road, so you really can’t miss it!
Entry is $15 for seniors (including J19) and $10 for juniors (J17 and younger).
Course
From Modella, the race heads north to Longwarry. From there it’s a left turn through Bunyip and Garfield to Tynong; another left turn through Cora Lynn to Bayles before the final left back to Modella. More details via the attachment.
Volunteers
Police and VicRoads permits do not permit spectators cars on the course, but if you’re keen to help out or see the race we can use you as an official race support vehicle. If you’re racing and bring someone along who helps you’ll race free. Please contact mal.sawford@carnegiecycling if you can help.
