After a brief shower, and slightly longer rain delay we waited for the track to dry … and then two late comers (in the first race!) to get their club bike from the shed, racing was able to proceed without any further interruptions or delays.

Apologies for posting these results later than I’d hoped – it was a mad dash after racing had finished, and the trolley packed up, to get ready for a cousin’s 21st birthday party … with airport duty for a work colleague thrown in on the way for good measure! (Thankfully the speeches hadn’t yet started when I eventually arrived at the party at 10 pm, for a 6 pm start …)
Thank you to Mick Hollingworth for helping run the show, photographers Andrew Currie and Sarina McNamara (which again solved the problem of non-podium placings in the big field races), and all the parents who helped as holders in the sprints, plus the kids who were an enthusiastic cheersquad to each other when they weren’t racing – and were on “bell duty”.
And a personal thank you to Mark Chilton and Sean Wilson who turned into my personal mechanics and fixed up my track bike for me when I realised I’d forgotten to change my handlebars over … and in my haste (between judging scratch races) managed to strip yet another allen key screw in the process! (Second this week – time for an allen key screw upgrade, I think!!)
