WARRNAMBOOL COMPLETED

Yesterday Chris Halley started in the 264 k’s Warrnambool for the second time. Chris had raced  over this distance previously in 2008 actually 299k’s and just finished inside the cut off time by 8 mins. Yesterdays conditions were very tough with head winds and driving rain which made a very long hard race even more difficult. Chris stayed

ALL RACING EXCELLENT

A week or so back I read on facebook comments about who runs the best crits. A couple of fools where having a p-ssing comp about whether one club or another runs the best races. From my observation all clubs run excellent racing and that is why Victorian and Australian cyclists are so good.

MELBOURNE TIGERS TEAM

Our grand daughter Jelena who turned 12 yo last month has just been moved up to the U14 no3 Team for Melbourne Tigers Basketball. Last season Jelena played in the No5 team as an 11 yo and was probably the most skillful and one of the best in a tough comp. To be selected in

NO BIKES THIS MORNING

With both CCCC at Glenvale and Southern Vets at Casey Fields rained out I’am going to look after two little dogs Gus and Vicky. Currently they are in their baskets in my warm lounge room. It is a pitty the rain is around this morning but clubs put safety of riders first. Wet corners are no

Casey Fields Tomorrow

Tonight I am minding Gus and Miss Vicky who are mini Schnauzer dogs belonging to our oldest daughter Louise. Have just taken them for a walk and given them tea. In the morning am going to Casey Fields to race but I doubt there will be still conditions like last Sunday. Worked today and have

Joel Pearson Wins Warrnambool

Congratulations to Joel on his fine win today and hopefully everyone achieved their own finishing goals. This is the second time Joel has won this historic race. Col tells me that Wade Wallace will be putting the results up on his Cycling Tips Blog later on. Well done Joel and to Genesys on a fantastic

THE YOUNG RIDERS

Given I have the opportunity to ride with the young E graders on Tuesday night and then train with the older, young riders at DISC on Wednesdays I get a pretty good overview of their abilities. Quite often we watch them race and don’t realise how fast they actually go on limited gearing. They

Support Mal’s Movember Campaign!

2008 Cyclist of the Year Awards

It’s Movember and time to focus on men’s health. To show my commitment, I’m donating my face to the cause by growing a moustache for the entire month of November, and need your support. My Mo will spark conversations, and no doubt generate some laughs at my expense; all in the name of raising

LEARN TO RACE

Young riders learn to race and that is why kids in the JDP become very competant race cyclists by the time they are 15, 16 or 17 years of age. Older people coming into the sport don’t get to learn in this same way and gain a lot of their ‘experience’out on the roads

ALL THE BEST TOMORROW

To everyone racing in the Warrnambool tomorrow, all the very best. I suppose you are all nearly bedded down by now. Anyway if you read this and you have not raced this far before please remember to eat well before you need food. Going hunger flat (or bonking in todays terms) comes upon you all
