Two weekends ago, the Australian Junior Track Championships wrapped up at the Dunc Gray Velodrome in Sydney.
The undisputed star of the championships was Courtney Field, who not noly defended her titles in the Under 15 sprint and time trial, but lowered her own national record times for both events, and became the first under 15 woman to break the 13 second barrier for the flying 200 metre qualifier.
On the final day of competition, Courtney also added the scratch race title to her quiver, and earned the ‘champion of champions’ trophy for her fantastic efforts.
Also excelling was Ruby Greig-Hurtig, who earned her first national title with a win in the Under 17 women’s 500 metre time trial,silver in the sprint and a bronze medal in the team sprint (with Emily Apolito) and , and Jack Hickey and Matt Ross who won gold along with Alistair Donohue and Zac Shaw.
Grace Fryer, Caiden Hull and Thomas Verleys-Donk also represented Victoria and raced with distinction in their events.
